Airborne and Allergenic Pollen of North America
Published in Hardcover by Johns Hopkins Univ Pr (November, 1999)
Authors: Walter H. Lewis and Vincent E. Zenger
Average review score:

Simply, the very best book on plants and pollen.
I am the author of Allergy-Free Gardening, published by Ten Speed Press, and I have read a huge number of books about pollen grains and the plants that produce them. There are many fine books on the subject but by far, Airborne and Allergenic Pollen of North America, by Dr. Walter H. Lewis, is hands down the best.
The writing here is complex but easily understandable. The material and research in the book are deep and break considerable new ground. Today, as allergies continue to skyrocket, as deaths from asthma grow larger every year, I find it hard to understand how this book has gone out of print!
This may not be a book for the average lay person but for any serious student of allergies, horticulture, and pollen, this is a must read. I'd think that every allergist would want to own a copy of Airborne and Allergenic Pollen of North America.
The lead author, Dr. Lewis, is considered by his peers in biology to be THE medical botanist. He is after all, also the author of the seminal work, Medical Botany, from Wiley& Sons publishers. But unlike many who write about allergy, Lewis also knows a great deal about plants. He is, among many other things, the Senior Botanist at the Missouri Botanical Gardens.
I can not recommend this wonderful book highly enough.

Aksum: An African Civilization of Late Antiquity
Published in Hardcover by Edinburgh Univ Press (May, 1991)
Author: Stuart Munro-Hay
Average review score:

Better than the Bible
Aksum: An African Civilization of Late Antiquity ranks as one of the best publications i've ever read. It's up there with "Dandelion Wine" by Ray Bradberry, and "Jenny Jameson sings the blues" by Jenna herself. Its probably better than the bible

Anger Releasing
Published in Audio Cassette by Hay House, Inc. (April, 1990)
Author: Louise L. Hay
Average review score:

Let Go!
Louise L. Hay amazed me and shocked me once again with this tape. She created a way to truly release anger though a guided meditation by inviting you to confront five people in your life. Hay gives you permisson to say to these people,in your mind, everything that you always wanted to say but did not dare. She incourages you to let EVERYTHING go! Then she shows you have to use that anger and release it so it does not hurt anyone anymore. This tape is not for the timid, I have to admit I threw it across the room once because it made me so mad! But, it does work. By someone finally showing me I could give myself permission to be mad I also learned how to give myself permisson to let go of the anger!

The Architectural Style of A. Hays Town
Published in Hardcover by Amdulaine Pubns (December, 1985)
Author: A. Hays Town
Average review score:

A must for the study of classic southern, architectural style
I have personally known this author for most of my adult life. No student of architecture should be without a study of, even on a limited basis, the style of A. Hays Town. When this book was published, Mr. Town did not want to provide written descriptions of his works. He simply wanted the original drawings to convey to the viewer his sense of style. The style of his architecture is classical . . . A. Hays Town, the author, is a class act . . . The book, The Architectural Style of A. Hays Town, is a classic.
